Westworld: Season 1 (2016)
Monday 11th September 2017
What happens in a world free of consequences and morality? From creators Jonathan Nolan (Interstellar, The Dark Knight films) and Lisa Joy (Burn Notice, Pushing Daisies), and executive producer J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Trek), Warner Home Video brings one of the most viewed HBO series ever, Westworld: The Complete First Season, to DVD, Blu-ray and UHD Blu-ray on 6th November 2017.
In its critically acclaimed inaugural season, Westworld averaged a gross audience of 13 million Total Viewers, boasting a higher audience than Game of Thrones and True Detective in their introductory seasons, to be HBO's most watched freshman series ever. Westworld: The Complete First Season features a star-studded cast led by Academy Award® winner Sir Anthony Hopkins (Silence of the Lambs), Golden Globe winner Ed Harris (The Truman Show), Golden Globe and Emmy® nominee Evan Rachel Wood (The Wrestler) and Golden Globe nominee Thandie Newton (Crash).
Based on the film written by best-selling author Michael Crichton (ER, Jurassic Park films), Westworld is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and evolution of sin. The futuristic park, set at the intersection of the near future and reimagined past, explores a world in which every human appetite, no matter how depraved or noble, can be indulged.
In addition to Hopkins, Harris, Wood and Newton, the cast of this 10-episode phenomenon includes Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Ben Barnes, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Clifton Collins, Jr., Luke Hemsworth, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Simon Quarterman, Rodrigo Santoro, Angela Sarafyan, Jimmi Simpson, Tessa Thompson and Shannon Woodward. Executive produced by Abrams, Nolan, Joy, Jerry Weintraub and Bryan Burk, Westworld is produced by Kilter Films in association with Bad Robot Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
Acclaimed by fans and critics alike, Westworld earned three Golden Globe nominations, including Best Television Series - Drama; Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama for Evan Rachel Wood; and Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for Thandie Newton. In addition, the series received a nomination from the PGA for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama; two Writers Guild of America nominations for New Series and Dramatic Series, a Directors Guild of America nomination for Jonathan Nolan, and three nominations from the Screen Actors Guild including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series; Thandie Newton for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series, and Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Comedy or Drama Series; Finally, Thandie Newton and Evan Rachel Wood were both recognised for their outstanding performances at the 2016 Critics' Choice Awards, which awarded the show as Most Exciting New Series. Thandie Newton secured Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and Evan Rachel Wood won Best Actress in a Drama Series, reinforcing Westworld as one of the most acclaimed new television series this season.
