Saturday 7th April 2012
Have you ever experienced a day when you are carrying on as usual just like the day before but strange things keep happening one after another on that particular day? Crime or Punishment?!?, released on DVD Third Window Films on 14th May 2012 is a slapstick comedy filled with incongruous nightmares and nonsensical laughter.
Script and direction by Keralino Sandorovich, the maestro of the Japanese theatre world. His flippant Russian-style name is obviously a fake as he is genuinely Japanese. Being a big fan of the great German writer, Kafka, he admits that this film has been influenced by Kafka's 'The Castle' and 'The Judgment'. He is also an enthusiast for slapstick comedy such as those by Marx brothersand black comedy by Monty Python. He adores Woody Allen and is renowned a master of laughter himself. This is a third film he has directed, which is bustling with his surreal talent and superb sense of humour.
Ayame is an unsuccessful girl celebrity, who happens to take on the PR role of a "police chief for a day". It is the job of a campaign girl to smile and act as a police chief for one day. It should have been a simple job, however, the police station staff treat her like the real police chief and look to her for instructions, which makes Ayame feel perplexed. In addition, she runs into her ex-boyfriend, Haruki, who is now a detective at the station, which means her ex is her subordinate for the day.
Furthermore, Haruki holds a dreadful secret which was the cause for the couple's separation. To make matters worse, a major event takes place on that particular day and the situation takes an unexpected turn. Would Ayame be able to solve the case and what is Haruki's secret?
