Death Note: L - change the WorLd
Monday 1st December 2008
From Hideo Nakata, director of the acclaimed Japanese horror flicks Dark Water, Ring and Ring 2 comes Death Note: L - change the WorLd, released on DVD by 4Digital Asia on 29th December 2008, the final movie in the live-action 'Death Note' trilogy. Released on DVD as a limited edition two-disc set that includes a 24-page book and over 3 hours of extra features, the film presents the stunning conclusion to the supernatural saga that continues to thrill manga, anime and movie fans worldwide.
Taking characters and events from the best-selling manga created by writer Tsugumi Ohba and illustrator Takeshi Obata (Hikaru no Go), Death Note: L - change the WorLd is based on an original screenplay and is both a spin-off from and a sequel to the first two Death Note movies.
Following the dramatic events of Death Note 2: The Last Name, the legendary detective, L (Kenichi Matsuyama), now knows that he has just 23 days left to live. Having destroyed the last remaining Death Notes, and facing his final days alone following the loss of his faithful retainer Watari (Shunji Fujimura), L has devoted himself to solving as many international crimes as possible before his time runs out. But when a young girl and boy come to him for assistance, he finds himself faced with what may be his most difficult case yet.
The appearances of the children at L's door are linked to a bioterrorist group intent on changing the world by wiping out the majority of the human population with a deadly virus, while preserving the planet and its environment for the chosen few who will be made immune to the lethal plague. If L cannot find the terrorists and bring them to justice before his imminent death, the final 23 days of his life may also be the final 23 days of humankind.
A brand new tale that features plenty of welcome references and nods to the already established Death Note mythology, Death Note: L - change the WorLd will delight both long-time fans of, and newcomers to, the fascinating exploits of the world's greatest detective.
