With striking insights, intriguing historical detail and human stories all brought to life by exciting, moving and vivid bite-size dramas, this fascinating DVD takes us from hunter-gatherers in Africa to the early settlers in Mesopotamia, from the wonders of Egypt to Ancient Rome and from the French Revolution to the Digital Revolution.
Told from some of the actual spots where the defining moments of our history occurred, including the Valley of the Kings, China's Shaanxi province, the Nazca lines in Peru and the Palace of Knossos, viewers are immersed in the great narrative of civilisation. It is a story that takes in China's terrifying First Emperor, Qin Shi Huang, Cleopatra and Napoleon and also the great pioneers from civil engineer Yu the Great and mathematician al-Khwarizmi to the father of immunology, Edward Jenner and birth control activist, Margaret Sanger.
