"Zombies, babes, guns and gore – what more do you need?"**** Loaded
Planet Terror is one of the most exhilarating DVD experiences ever with its exploitation-esque special effects, delicious humour, super sexy cast and eye bulging, stomach churning gore. With a highly impressive and diverse cast headed up by Rose McGowan (Death Proof, Doom Generation, TVs Charmed), Freddy Rodriguez (TVs Six Feet Under, Bobby, Poseidon), Michael Biehn (Terminator, The Abyss, Aliens), Bruce Willis (Die Hard, The Sixth Sense), Quentin Tarantino (Death Proof, Kill Bill, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs), Marley Shelton (American Dreamz, Death Proof, The Last Kiss), Naveen Andrews (Lost), Jeff Fahey (The Lawnmower Man, Body Parts) and Tom Savini, one of the founding fathers of horror movie makeup, portraying Deputy Tolo. In Planet Terror, disbelief isn’t just suspended, it’s annihilated. As with Sin City, stories weave in and out of each other and circumstances escalate to absurdist levels. With its roots in classic films, the political paranoia and vague allusions to espionage are great throwbacks to films like Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Kiss Me Deadly. So if you’re looking for lashings of gory, bullet-ridden comic book violence with the added twist of deliciously tongue-in-cheek humour, you need look no further than the inventive, relentless and hugely enjoyable Planet Terror. Synopsis Married doctors William and Dakota Block (Josh Brolin and Marley Shelton) find their graveyard shift inundated with townspeople ravaged by gangrenous sores and a suspiciously vacant look in their eyes. Among the wounded is Cherry Darling (Rose McGowan), a go-go dancer whose leg was ripped off during a roadside attack, and El Wray (Freddy Rodriguez), a mysterious drifter with a past. Cherry may be down on her luck, but she hasn’t danced her last number. As the virus turns the invalids into enraged aggressors, Cherry and El Wray lead a team of accidental warriors into the night, hurtling towards a destiny that will leave millions infected, countless dead and a lucky few heading for the last safe corner of Planet Terror.DVD Extras: |
