will release the hugely popular comedy series The Rag Trade – The
Complete First LWT Series . This 2-disc set will be available to buy on
DVD on 11th February 2008, RRP £19.99. This set contains all 15
episodes that comprise the first LWT series, including the Christmas
Special, shown on Christmas Eve 1977.Peter Jones (The Hitch – Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) is the hapless, much harassed Harold Fenner – the proprietor of Fenner Fashions. It is a small clothing workshop in London. Ostensibly run by Harold Fenner and his brother Reg, the foreman, the true leader of the female workers is really the militant shop steward Paddy (Miriam Karlin – Children of Men). Paddy is ever ready to call a strike unless Harold is willing to provide an incentive of some kind to encourage the union workers to complete their job… This series was a colossal success for the BBC between 1961–1963. The show’s popularity was such that more than a decade later, the cast and writers reunited for further series – this time made by London Weekend Television. The long – awaited return is as appealing as ever with Peter Jones and Miriam Karlin reprising their roles as Harold and Paddy.
