| Elle Woods is a fashion obsessed girl and the most popular girl on campus. She's a proud Hawaiian Tropic girl, president of her sorority, Miss June in her campus calendar and most importantly a natural blonde and airhead that goes with the colour. Naturally, Elle is dating the most popular bloke, Warner Huntington the 3rd, on campus and longs to become Mrs. Warner Huntington. |
| When Warner invites Elle out for an evening meal she is expecting him to make her all wobbly at the knees and finally pop the question. However, she is heartbroken when she is dumped by Warner who claims that he is seeking a more serious relationship to go with his law degree course at Harvard. Elle's dizzy personality will just not do in his attempts to become a serious lawyer. |
| There's nothing for it, Elle must become all serious and head to Harvard to win him back. In order to pass the entrance exam she really needs to knuckle down and study hard to get the necessary grades. There's also the tricky entrance interview, so what better way to gain entry by filming a pop style video wearing a bikini and sitting in a hot tub? That'll get the attention of those stuffy entrance examiners! |
| With Elle wearing plenty of bright and colourful clothes, including the dreaded red, there could have been problems with colour bleeding. Fortunately, even for a relatively low budget film, the picture is pretty much perfect with no signs of over saturation, colour bleeding or outlining. The bit-rate remains above average above throughout the film and it exhibits no signs of artifacting, graininess or picture imperfections. |
| With this being a dialogue intensive film there is little scope for the use of the surround channels. However, the dialogue is crisp and clear in the centre channel without any cross channel bleeding . The musical soundtrack is equally impressive with a wide soundstage and booming bass to rattle your speakers. All in all it is good result with little scope for a surround sound extravaganza. |
| The menu is scored and animated but it hardly taxed the creative talents of a menu designer. It contains the now standard music video and trailer. It also includes some interesting deleted scenes with an introduction from the director and an audio commentary with the director and Reese having a whale of a time. |

Although missing a featurette from the region one disc, and if you are a fan of hairdressing, then there's featurette on how they kept Reese's hair blonde. And if you're not fan? You'll be fascinated to learn just how many shades of blonde you can have and why it takes so long for your girlfriend to go to the hairdressers. |
| Reese Witherspoon comes up trumps yet again with another brilliant performance. I thought her efforts in The Election could not be surpassed, but I was proved very wrong. And the adage that blondes have more fun is definitely true with Reese looking sexier than ever. |

Although the film had this nasty tendency to head in the direction of Clueless, and at one terrible moment I thought it may burst into song ala Earth Girls are Easy, it is still a fun film to watch. The storyline is a little thin on the ground and the ending it pretty much unbelievable, if not the whole of the film. But, hey, that's escapism and that's what a film is about. |
