Synopsis

It's raining....Hard. The flooding has forced the residents of Huntingburg to flee their homes for higher ground with only the local sheriff and his deputies to watch the town.

Film

As per usual, someone wants to upset the party! This comes in the form of a gang of bank robbers who are intent on stealing the $3 million in cash which Tom and his Uncle Charlie are transporting away from the floods. Unfortunately for Tom, Uncle Charlie is a bit absent minded and drives the truck into a large puddle, and on the other side....The bank robbers led by Jim. Tom decides to hide the money, Uncle Charlie gets shot and now the Robbers are after Tom and the money!

I like this film. It's different, with a solid and unusual plot, good acting, and they actually flooded a town for the filming! There are some great moments like the jet ski chase through the school, the frantic attempts of Tom and Karen to get out of the water before they get electrocuted, and look out for the bit where the old guy tells his wife to be quiet in a very funny way.

The odd thing about this film, is that although they're bank robbers, they come across as being likeable, especially Jim, who wants to make sure as much as possible that no-one gets hurt.

The picture quality is very good, especially considering the weather conditions and the fact that its dark all the time. One unusual feature is that you can select either a 4:3 or 2.35:1 aspect ratio from the menu. Sound is also good, with excellent use of the surround channels for the rain effects, of which there is a lot!

Mention should also go to the menu which has a nice water rippling effect on it, as well as more rain sounds! And oddly its not only encoded for region 2, but also region 4 as well. All in all, a good film which wouldn't look out of place in anyone's collection, shame about the lack of extras though.
