DVD-320, DVD-360, DVD-520, DVD-K535, DVD-K565, DVD-560 and DVD-620

Multi-Region:

To see what version of the firmware your player is using:

  • Press the Setup button on your Remote Control
  • Press the buttons 1, 2, 3 and 4 on the Remote
  • You should now see the firmware version date

Converting this player to all region:
  • Press the Setup button on your remote control.
  • Using the onscreen menu, select the Preferences option.
  • Press the Still/Step button on your remote control.
  • Press the Prev button on your remote control.
  • Press the Next button on your remote control.
  • You will now enter the hidden setup page, and can change the player to any Region or set it to Region Free. You can also disable Macrovision from this menu.

Please note the following if you have a very new Sampo DVD player, although note that this MAY or MAY NOT be relevant to the DVD-620:

"Thanks to John M. for sending us a quick guide on how to get round the recent removal of the hidden menus on the Sampo DVD-320, DVD-360, DVD-520, DVD-560, DVD-K535 and DVD-K565 models. First you will need access to a CD-R drive, secondly visit the following web page where you can download the relevant CD images for both the new firmware and older which includes the menus.

After this its simply a case of burning yourself two CD-ROMs. Insert the older firmware CD and downgrade your system to the earlier version with the hidden menus, then configure the system to bypass region checking and optionally Macrovision. Finally insert the new firmware CD and upgrade to the latest.

Even though you will not be able to access the hidden menus, the settings you made from the earlier firmware will remain present. As for the bad news, according to John this doesn't work on the new Apex 600A with the N4 EPROM and the 4318 Video Drive."

Multi-Region:

Checking the firmware revision:

  • Press Setup then enter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 on the Remote Control

To change Region:
  • Press Setup then enter 3, 8, 8, 8, 3 on the Remote Control
  • Enter the required region ID or Bypass (Will Play ALL Regions except some Region Code Enhanced Discs)

Setting CSS and Macrovision:
  • Press Setup then enter 5, 9, 0, 4, 1, 9 on the Remote Control
  • The CSS can be enabled or disabled
  • The MACROVISION can be enabled or disabled

Adjusting PAL/NTSC Modes:
  • Press Setup then enter 7, 2, 5, 5, 5 on the Remote Control

If the above modification fails to work then you may wish to try the modification for the Sampo DVD-520 above.
