When Kane comes back from the surface of the planet, he
has an alien being attached to his face, attempts to surgically remove it result
in failure with the alien spewing acid blood from its veins. Eventually
the alien falls off Kane and dies. Later, during a meal Kane starts to convulse
and herein lies a piece of cinematic history....The alien bursts out of his
chest. Now the crew of the Nostromo must hunt down the alien and kill it before
it kills them.

Alien has always been one of my favourite films, the
way you see so little, but know that there is something there belies its relatively
low budget. Ridley Scott created a masterpiece when he directed this
film, and the suspense it generates hasn't been surpassed in any way or form
since it was created 21 years ago....Yes, its 21 years old!

The acting is good, and the special effects were
state-of-the-art for the time with the aforementioned chest-burster being a
particular highlight.

Picture and sound quality are amazing, Fox has really
gone to town here giving us not only a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and
anamorphic print, but also a THX remastering.

Extras are nothing short of superb with a brilliant
menu system that zooms you around "Mother". An unusual inclusion is
the isolated music score which is strange to watch the film with to say the
least. Quite simply....Buy this DVD!
